Claimed criteria and what a finished job gives you
Read · 4 min
On Enterprise, a draft job pauses once before it writes anything. Petria reads the exhibits, works out what the record can actually carry, and waits for you to say which criteria the petition should claim. The pause happens after evidence extraction and before drafting, so the memo you are reading is grounded in the exhibits you uploaded rather than in a generic catalog. Until you confirm, no draft has been generated.
The memo sorts the catalog into three groups. Meetable on this record means the exhibits support it as filed. Thin means there is something there but it needs more evidence, and the row notes what would strengthen it. Not supported yet means the record does not currently reach it. Petria suggests a minimum number of criteria to claim and shows how many you have selected against it.
Select the criteria you want to claim, then confirm to continue. The job resumes from where it paused, reusing the extraction work already done, and it is charged as one draft job rather than two. If the memo tells you the record is not ready, you can cancel the job instead and go back to the client for more evidence.
Your selection is not just an outline decision. The confirmed set becomes the locked criteria package for that job, and it drives what the criteria justification memo covers and which criteria the pre-filing gap analysis assesses. Claiming a criterion the record cannot support means gap analysis will hold you to it; leaving one out means it will not be argued at all. A practical way to use it: claim the meetable rows without hesitation, be deliberate about thin rows, and treat the not-supported list as a request to the client rather than a limit on the petition. Because the gate applies to draft jobs, it is the moment when a partner can shape strategy cheaply. Once drafting begins, changing which criteria are claimed means another run.
When a job completes, its files appear in the matter panel under deliverables. There is no separate export step, and nothing is emailed to you as an attachment. Every full draft job produces at least a petition draft and a verification report, both as Word documents. Your plan and the matter type decide what else shows up alongside them:
The criteria justification memo is a Pro and Enterprise deliverable, built from the locked criteria package, so it walks the specific criteria the petition claims rather than the full statutory list. Use it as the bridge between the exhibits and the argument: which criteria are being claimed, and what in the record carries each one. Beneficiary identity is on the Matter header.
Read verification and the criteria memo together. Verification tells you whether individual citations are grounded. The criteria memo tells you whether the claimed criteria hold together as a package. Neither is a filing document; they are internal work product for your team, not addressed to USCIS or IRCC, and a clean report is not a decision that the matter is ready to file.
File names come from the matter, not from the job. Petria uses the matter reference and beneficiary name you set, then adds a suffix such as Petition, Verification Report, or Criteria Justification, which is why a clean matter reference is worth setting before you run anything. A few artifacts stay internal and never appear in the panel, including the PII audit record, run-summary JSON, and intermediate drafting output; what you see listed is the lawyer-facing set. If a deliverable you expected is missing, check two things: whether the feature is included on your plan, since criteria justification and RFE anticipation are Pro and Enterprise only, and whether the job type produces it at all, since anticipation does not run on RFE or RFR response jobs and the filing packet only appears on response jobs. Deliverables stay available on the matter, including after you archive it, so you can come back for the file copy later.
